Panel Upgrades
Replaced an outdated electrical panel with Zinsco breakers after the homeowner's insurance required updated service equipment. The project included a new code-compliant panel, whole-home surge protection, corrected grounding and bonding, organized wiring, and final inspection approval.
The Homeowner's Goal
The homeowner needed the aging Zinsco electrical panel replaced because of safety concerns and insurance requirements. The goal was to install modern, dependable equipment, correct the existing grounding problems, and complete the work in a way that would satisfy the required inspection and insurance concerns.
Existing Conditions
The existing panel was old and equipped with Zinsco breakers. Inside the panel, the grounding conductors had not been terminated on a proper terminal bar. Multiple grounding conductors had instead been twisted together and secured with an acorn-style connector. The branch-circuit wiring was also crowded and disorganized, requiring careful identification, retermination, and cleanup during the replacement.
