The Homeowner's Goal
What the project needed to accomplish.
The homeowner needed the aging Zinsco electrical panel replaced because of safety concerns and insurance requirements. The goal was to install modern, dependable equipment, correct the existing grounding problems, and complete the work in a way that would satisfy the required inspection and insurance concerns.
Existing Conditions
What we found before starting.
The existing panel was old and equipped with Zinsco breakers. Inside the panel, the grounding conductors had not been terminated on a proper terminal bar. Multiple grounding conductors had instead been twisted together and secured with an acorn-style connector. The branch-circuit wiring was also crowded and disorganized, requiring careful identification, retermination, and cleanup during the replacement.
Final Result
What changed for the homeowner.
The homeowner received a modern and more dependable electrical panel with new breakers, whole-home surge protection, properly corrected grounding and bonding, and substantially cleaner circuit organization. The replacement addressed the insurance concern, removed the outdated Zinsco equipment, and corrected the improper grounding arrangement. The completed installation was inspected and passed.
