The property needed two non-working exit signs restored to service. What initially appeared to be a fixture problem required additional troubleshooting after the existing wiring above the suspended ceiling was inspected.

What we found before starting.

Troubleshooting above the suspended ceiling revealed improper wiring and electrical connections supplying the exit-sign circuit. Portions of the wiring were not properly contained or terminated, creating an unsafe condition and a potential risk of arcing, overheating, electrical failure, or fire. The problem was concealed above the ceiling and was not visible from the occupied space below.

Troubleshot two non-operational commercial exit signs
Accessed the suspended ceiling to trace the existing branch-circuit wiring
Identified improper wiring and electrical connections supplying the fixtures
Removed and corrected the unsafe wiring conditions
Reworked the affected conductors and junction-box connections
Properly contained and secured the repaired electrical connections
Restored power to the exit-sign circuit
Tested both exit signs for proper operation
