Failed Breaker Replacement & Zinsco Panel Upgrade Recommendation — Reno

A Reno service call for lights and receptacles that had stopped working led to the diagnosis of a failed circuit breaker in an older Zinsco electrical panel. Surge Electric replaced the defective breaker, restored power to the affected circuit, and recommended a future panel upgrade due to the age of the existing equipment.

The Homeowner's Goal

What the project needed to accomplish.

The customer called because multiple lights and receptacles in the home were no longer working. The immediate goal was to determine why the circuit had lost power and restore normal operation without replacing equipment unnecessarily.

Existing Conditions

What we found before starting.

Troubleshooting at the electrical panel identified a defective breaker serving the affected lights and receptacles. The home is also equipped with an older Zinsco electrical panel that remains in service and was recommended for replacement as part of a future electrical panel upgrade.

Final Result

What changed for the homeowner.

The failed breaker was replaced and power was restored to the customer's lights and receptacles. The immediate electrical issue was corrected, allowing the affected circuit to return to service. Because the home still has older Zinsco service equipment, Surge Electric also provided a separate panel-upgrade estimate so the customer has a long-term replacement option when ready to proceed.
